Drawing on location is an excellent way to slow down and appreciate the beauty of a neighborhood, discovering new details in each glance. Local assoc. architect, Lyndsey Stough, finds joy in sharing her hometown pride and design passion through immersive experiences suitable for newbies and experts alike.
During this event Lyndsey will show you her approach to capturing the style and characteristics of buildings using simple pen and paper. Learn the foundational techniques for a lifetime of successful urban sketching in your own favorite places with composition, proportion, line weights, texture, and shadow.
We will start slow with brief exercises to warm up and defeat the "blank page fear", then progress into longer observational challenges. Lyndsey's classes focus on different subjects revolving around historic commercial architecture. This round will explore the Queen Anne style in Downtown Main Street Sylvania.
The class takes place in a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) which means you may enjoy alcoholic beverages from nearby craft breweries and restaurants during the event. Arrive early to purchase drinks before the start time.
Seating is not guaranteed, so bring your own chair/cushion if you prefer not to stand or sit on the ground.
Lyndsey provides all the sketching materials you need for this course, however, you are welcome to bring your own preferred tools as desired.
