This workshop will explore the many methods of creating a comic book. Students will be guided in a 4 class exploratory process where they will learn the different aspects of writing, drawing, and producing a comic book. Students will also be taught character design, storytelling, page layout, inking, and proper handling of art materials.

Materials included in tuition: Custom made workbook designed by Imani

Students should bring or buy:

• a 8.5x11" sketchbook (recommended brand Sterling or Art Creations, although any is fine)

• Manga Illustration Paper

• one 05 Micron Pen in Black

• one 08 Micron Pen in Black

• one Staedtler Non-Photo Blue Pencil.

• a graphite pencil or mechanical pencil

• Tombow Calligraphy Pens

• a pencil sharpener with a case to hold shavings

• and a set of basic markers OR colored pencils. Recommended markers include Tombow or Ooly. Recommended colored pencils include Goldfaber or Pablo.

About the Instructor: Imani Lateef is a professional graphic and comic book artist who also has a passion for poetry and music. Cancellation Policy: We will refund 50% for any cancellation made at least eight days before the class. If you cannot attend after registration, you are welcome to gift your tuition to a friend at no charge. We do not transfer tuition from one class to another.
