PAINTING WITH PALETTE KNIVES

60.00

Two Wednesdays, October 18th and 25th from 11:00am - 2:00pm
(street parking is free from 11-2)
Instructor: Paul Brand
Ages: 18+
Skill level: Any, but some basic knowledge of drawing and painting is required.

Suitable for acrylics or oils. Painting with palette knives encourages free and bold expression and rich textures. The technique is suitable for any subject matter. The class will focus on learning the variety of marks and textures that can be made with palette knives, and applying the method to create a painting. In past classes, most students have completed at least one painting. I used painting knives #31 and 37 to create this 11 x 14 acrylic painting, “Fallen Trees, Maine Coast”. Knife #31 is useful for covering large areas, while #37 can make irregular shapes and straight lines. Either knife can create textures. Photo references will be provided or you may bring your own subject
