PAINT AN IMPRESSIONIST STILL LIFE IN PASTEL

40.00

Instructor: Mary Jane Erard
Ages: Mature Teens + Adults
Skill level: Intermediate to advanced. Some basic knowledge of drawing from life is required. Those working in oil pastel should have taken the Intro to Oil Pastel workshop offered by MJ, or have working knowledge of oil pastels.
Sunday, October 21 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Note: This is not a multi-session class. Each workshop is separate and individually priced at $40.00.

Learn how to create a still life painting using impressionistic painting techniques. Instead of painting from photographs, students will paint from an actual still life arrangement recreated from well known impressionist paintings. Students have their option of painting in Soft Pastel, or Oil Pastel.

All supplies provided, but students should purchase or bring their own paper. Those working in Soft Pastel should buy any sanded pastel paper in any color they prefer in at least 9" X 12" size, not to exceed 11" X 14". Those who prefer to work in Oil Pastel should bring a sheet of Arches Watercolor or Arches Oil paper, least 9" X 12" size, not to exceed 11" X 14". Preliminary sketch paper will be provided and pastel kits will be available to borrow in class.

Note: *Students with NO prior drawing experience are encouraged to take a "Drawing for Beginners" workshop with Deb Buchanan, or another drawing workshop offered at The Depo, The Toledo Museum of Art, or The Toledo Artist's Club. Paul Brand, Katie Delay, and Jenny Giovanucci are excellent drawing instructors and highly recommended by The Depo. Info on our Drawing for Beginners Workshop, hosted every 7 weeks in the Toledo Depo is available here: http://artsupplydepo.com/toledo-workshops/drawing-for-beginners
