MIXED MEDIA STUDIO
MIXED MEDIA STUDIO
Saturday, September 30th from 10:00am - 12:00pm
Instructor: Claudia Cooper
Ages: Teen - Adult
Skill level: Absolute beginner
This class is designed to be an open-format studio experience instead of an academic style class. Claudia will present tips and tricks for manipulating a variety of papers with paint, pen, Gelli Plate, and other materials. Students will then have the remainder of the class to experiment and explore techniques while enjoying creative dialogue with the group.
In this class we will use techniques of painting, stenciling, doodling, stamping and cutting to up-cycle junk mail and "unwanted" papers into pieces which are beautiful and useful. Recycled envelopes, old file folders, ugly scrapbook paper etc. will be transformed into embellishments which can be used to enhance art journals, Artist Trading Cards or applied to 3-dimensional objects.
Claudia Cooper is a mixed-media artist and art instructor who has a knack for elevating the mundane into something precious and beautiful. Her open-format classes are designed to be non-intimidating and accessible for those who are looking for a creative outlet. All those inventive and curious are invited to attend.
Students should bring along a variety odds and ends with which to experiment. Colored pencils, markers, decorative scissors, a Gelli Plate, hole punches, vintage or ugly papers, water-based glue, and water-based paints are recommended. Supplies will also be available for use from The Art Supply Depo's Studio.
