DRAWING THE HUMAN HEAD

95.00

Instructor: Jennifer Giovannucci
Three Tuesday evenings, April 10, 17, and 24 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Ages: 18+ (serious younger students accepted with parental permission)

This three session drawing class will focus on the anatomy of the head. In each session, Jennifer will present a one hour lecture on anatomical structures followed by two hours of drawing practice from a skeleton or live nude model.

  • CLASS 1:  study of skull and shoulder girdle (followed by drawing from a skeleton) as well as explore the Andrew Loomis ball + plane technique for establishing and simplifying the geometry of the head
  • CLASS 2:  study of facial musculature (followed by drawing from a model)
  • CLASS 3:  study of facial features (followed by drawing from a model)

Students should bring a large newsprint or drawing pad (18" x 24" is recommended), a few earth tone colored pencils (we carry a good selection of colors in Prismacolor or Faber Castell), graphite pencils, an eraser, and a pencil sharpener. Students are also welcome to bring any preferred materials of their choice, such as charcoal or pastels.

Note: these anatomy drawing sessions will utilize a fully nude model.
Please register as soon as you plan on attending. Classes that don't reach the minimum number of students required will be canceled 48 hours before the first day of class. Last minute registrations are accepted if class minimum is met and space allows.
