The whole class runs three consecutive Saturdays for $90.00. Alternatively, students can register for individual classes for $35.00 each.
April 6, 13, 20, 2019 from 11:00am to 2:00pm

April 6, 2019 Watercolor topics: Focus on Clouds and Skies
In this class students will practice painting clouds wet in wet, or wet in dry. Paul will demonstrate how to paint clouds and skies in a variety of weather conditions such as sunny and stormy skies, rain and snow. Students will also practice how to plan white space on their paper to ensure the white of the cloud is the white of the paper, instead of relying on white watercolor paint.

April 13, 2019 Watercolor topics: Focus on Trees, Foliage and Grasses
In this class, students will learn how to paint trees and foliage with a focus on creating overall irregular shapes and leaf edges, creating the illusion of the sunny vs shaded side, and placement in composition. Paul will also demonstrate and have students practice painting grasses: using a 1 inch flat, a dry brush technique, and varying color and value.

 April 20, 2019 Watercolor topics: Focus on Flowers
Flowers provide an exciting variety of shapes and colors, and a touch of summertime. In this class, students will learn how to flowers with a focus on creating overall irregular shapes and leaf edges, creating the illusion of the sunny vs shaded side, and placement in composition.

Supplies to Bring or Buy:
(Note: if you already have any watercolor supplies, bring them with you and we'll see what you can use.)

  • 8 x 10 inch sketch book – two hard covers spiral bound

  • Two full sheets, 22 x 30, of Arches cold press 140 lb watercolor paper

  • Snap brand watercolor brushes, one each one inch flat and number 10 round

  • 2B drawing pencil and kneaded eraser

  • Watercolor palette about 11 x 14 size

  • Daniel Smith watercolors one tube each:

    • Hansa yellow light

    • Hansa yellow medium

    • Cadmium red medium hue

    • Quinacridone Magenta

    • Ultramarine blue

    • Phthalocyanine blue 140 (green shade)

  • Two plastic cups to hold water

  • A roll of paper towels

You can also call the store ahead of time and have any or all of these items collected and held for when you arrive for the class.

Please register as soon as you plan on attending. Classes that don't reach the minimum number of students required will be canceled 48 hours before the first day of class. Last minute registrations are accepted if class minimum is met and space allows.
