KIDS ANIMATION FILM-MAKING WORKSHOP

45.00

Instructor: Jacob Menden
Ages: 9-12 (Ages Firm)
Skill level: No previous experience necessary
Dates: Five consecutive days, Monday, August 7- Friday August 11th from 4:00-7:00pm

This workshop will provide students with the full set of skills needed to make an animated film independently. We will start with writing, storyboarding, design and concept; once their stories are completed we will move on to animation production. Students will be taught basic animation principles and learn how to document/record their own animations if they choose to continue animating after the course. Once animation production is finished the students will be taught compositing and video editing with Adobe programs (After Effects and Premiere). If some students already have laptops with these programs installed it is highly encouraged for them to be brought to class. Students should also bring pencils, erasers, and any coloring tools of their choice. Supplemental materials will be provided by The Depo. Animation equipment will be provided by the instructor. The intention is for each video to be fully completed at the end of the course but the instructor will finalize the videos if necessary.

Parents: Please make sure to enter your email address at checkout if you purchase the class online, or if you call to register, provide your email over the phone with the Art Supply Depo staff when signing up for the class. I will email you each a .mov file of the work that your student produced in the class approximately 2-3 weeks after the class is over.

About the instructor: Jacob Menden is an independent animation artist based in Toledo, he has taught classes through the Art Supply Depo since 2013. While studying at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), he also taught Summer workshops offered through the school. Jacob's work has been featured in museums and film festivals throughout the United States, Europe and Australia.

Note: Students are welcome to bring a beverage and snack to the class.
