Henna, or mehndi, is a form of body art from Ancient India, in which decorative designs are created on a person's body, using a paste, created from the powdered dry leaves of the henna plant. The henna temporarily dyes the skin in a form of temporary tattoo, and will come off gradually over the course of 1-3 weeks, two weeks on average, depending on a person’s skin and the area of application. Ancient in origin, mehndi is still a popular form of body art among the women of the Indian Subcontinent, Africa, and the Middle East.

In this workshop, students will use an all natural, organic henna mixture and simple designs provided by the instructor to explore this beautiful ancient art form. All materials will be provided. Please make sure students wear “art studio clothing” and shoes to this workshop.
